DESCRIPTION:Anna Barnes\, a Cincinnati\, Ohio poet\, announces the release of her second book\, “bloom // wilt”\, for adult poetry readers with interest in topics of gender\, sexuality\, feminism\, matriarchy\, and the war between nature and the manmade world. This 20-poem chapbook follows a character named Chrysanthemum on her journey as she is born in nature\, begins to look longingly toward and then ventures into the shimmering city in the horizon\, soon finds out that the city is not as beautiful as it seems from the outside\, and is only able to return to her natural homeland by dying and being buried in the dirt. Chrysanthemum originated from a poem of the same name in Anna’s first poetry book\, “Out of Ink and Ideas” (2025).

DESCRIPTION:Nicholas Siefert is a research engineer by day and part-time writer\, translator\, and science blogger. He found this poem after researching his New Amsterdam ancestor\, Johannes de Decker\, Jeremias’s cousin. \nIn Praise of Greed is a modern English translation of Lof de Geldsucht by Jeremias de Decker (1609- \n1666)\, who was a prominent poet of the Dutch Golden Age\, known for his deep moral convictions and sharp social insight. A close friend of Rembrandt\, de Decker frequently celebrated the artist in his poetry; in return\, Rembrandt painted a celebrated portrait of the poet (1655)\, which serves as the inspiration behind the cover. \nLof de Geldsucht is a sustained\, ingenious voice-portrait of Greed personified: it dredges up both classical and Christian authorities\, scientific breakthroughs\, Dutch seafaring\, and forces the reader to think about wealth\, ambition\, and mora agency from Lady Greed’s perspective.
